Tho secretary said that the business _. of the meeting was general, but ha *'-" would ask the chairman of the Management Committee to give a sum-- j niary of tho business of the committoe j sinco the last meeting. , | Mr Francis said the principal bust-. , ! ness of the, committee had been nu en- \ deavour to secure the extension of tho . English team's tour to Australia to , . New Zealand, and Mr A. E. G. Rhode* -. , had been asked, when in England, to - | interview tho M.C.C. people on tho ,- , matter. It was also suggested that a .■-■' New Zealand team might bo sent to J Australia, but in Hew of tho visit of '. , the Engbsh team for next season, it ; •! had been decided to leavo the matter ■ - over until the following season; Tho -i estimated cost of the tour was £600. \ Sir R. Vincent, a member of the J committee, said it was only fair it r the Slanagement Committee in do- .' ciding not to send a team to Australia next season had been influenced solely by the fact that in view of the English tour to Australia, tho proposed New Zealand tour would only result .- in a loss. Mr J. Young said the committer ,: had previously negotiated with tho SI.CC. relative to the extension of tho English tour to New Zealand, but tho ' reply received* was that the project could not bo carried out. Sir Francis Baid ho would like to got, '-. t>n expression of opinion from the meeting Telativo to tho conditions of the -. ; Lord Hawke Competition for minor • ] Associations. Ho took it that tha j decision to make it a Challenge Cup ", competition ' would have to < stand thifl - j season, but he thought it might be ad- r '*j visablo to revert to the competitions: j system for future seasons. That would, j be a much better system for the mii-0r.'.,. associations. It promoted more"'', games, and added much more interest- , , to tbo competitions. Mr Young agreed that the oompoti-' • tion system would arouse more interest.' .' At the close of the meeting a hearty ,- vote of thanks was accorded the Pieaident for coming down from Wellington --• to attend tho meeting. - ,
