The weather was fine cloudy, and the. wicket good when play was resumed. Macartney and Tozer batted strongly, and the partnership yielded 103 runs before Tozer was bowled by Strieker with a long hop. A couple of overs later, Macartney's century appeared. Ho took 108 minutes to get the runs, and his success was loudly applauded. Minnett shaped well, and hit Schwarz for six, but the next ball was caught and bowled by Schwarz. At 126, Macartney attempted to pull one of Schwarz- , s curly ones, and was bowled. He batted 128 minutes, and hit nine fours during a chanceless innings. Emery again indulged in hard hitting, landing one from Schwarz on the track. Next over ho lifted onq from Sinclair on to tho top of the ladies' stand, and next one from Schwarz again landed one on the track. The fourth century appeared after 271 minutes' play. Emery's 50 took 20 minutes, and from the stari to the luncheon adjournment, 86 minutes, 176 runs were scored. In tho first over after tho interval, Faulkner bowled Massie, and Harvey was luckily caught by Vogler off Pegler. Emery, not out 80, batted for 46 minutes, and hit seven fours and ono six.
