MR G. A. LEWIN, OF LYTTELTON APPOINTED.

(PRKSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DVNEDTN, January 25. At a meeting of the City Council vo-nis-ht, Mr G. A. Lewin, of Lyttelton, was appointed Town Clerk, in succession to Mr R. W. Richards. There were thirty-eight applicant* for the position, which carries a salary of £600 per annum.

Mr G. A. Lewin is forty-four years of age, and is the oldest .son of Mr James Lewin, of Lyttelton. Ho was educated at the Lyttelton Borough School, and for eighteen years acted as Lvtteiton agent and reporter for the Lyttelton. Times Company. Ho was a member of the Lvtteiton Borough Council for two . ■• three years, and eleven years ago was appointed by the Council to the position of Town Cierk and treasurer to the boroimh. Ho is a registered accountant under the New Zealand Society of Accountants Act, and =i'ice the acquiring of the Lyttelton Gas Works has acted as financial manager of the undertaking.
