Tho Rev. D. C. Bates's weather summary and forecast, issued at Wellington at 5 p.m. yesterday, were as follow.—A"- westerly storm area enveloped the country on Saturday evening, and westerly gales were afterwards prevalent southward of Kawhta and Castl-point. A westerly galo is reported this evening at Farewell Spit.. Thunderstorms occurred, iti parts, and heavy rain fell* on the W«st Coaat oi the South. Island and in other parts. Present indications aro for squally and showery weather in parts, with variable winds, but moderate to strong southerly winds will prevail shortly ■everywhere, and fair weather ■ will probably follow. The barometer is duo to rise steadily everywhere soon.
