RADIUM IN AUSTRALIA.
STATEMENT BY DR. MAWSON. United P*ess Association—i>v Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 9. Dr. M&Waon makes an interesting statement abbut the recently discovered radium deposits in South Australia. The lode is three miles long and wonderfully rich in radium ores, monazite and sapphires, and, though the latter are not of gem quality, it is one of the l biggest sapphire patches in the world. [ Dr. Mawson says there is no reason ! why the radium salts should not be extracted here, instead of the ores being sent to Europe. A company has already been formed for the purpose.
