FATALITIES IN AMERICA.
United Press 'Asaocir.tion—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. A locomotive exploded on the Barlington railway in Wyoming. All on board were killed. A freight train was wrecked at New Madison, Ohio, and several trainmen were killed. CAPETOWN, January 7. Twenty-two deaths have occurred as a result of tho Cathcart accident.
The railway statistics just published by the United States nter-State Commission tell a disagreeable story (soys an exchange). Train accidents are not detailed, but there is manifestly something amiss, many things at fault, when the casualties during the year so far number 20,650, and 766 persons have been killed and 19,884 injured. There were 5861 collisions, causing the death of 433 persons and the injury of 7765. The derailments numbered 5918, resulting in the killing of 340 persons and tho injury of 4814. In Britain an accident or a fatality is of rare occurrence. Only one passenger was killed during the twelve months.
NEW YORK, January 6. The Santa Fe north-bound express was derailed, the engine-driver being killed and many passengers injured.
