SATURDAY'S PROGRAMME.
VARIOUS COMPETITIONS.
Further useful work vr&s carried out by the Boy Scouts at their encampment at Watnoni Park on Saturday. Routine work was attended to before breakfast, and after breakfast tho lads journeyed into town, and the local Scouts took charge ot the country boys and showed them the sights of the-city. The par-j- returned to camp by the l-.o p.m. tram. After dinner the march past was carried out under the charge of Dominion Chief Scout Cossgrove, and the rest of the afternoon was occupied in giving a public demonstration of Boy Scout work. A very creditable exhibition of bridge building was given by an expert troop of Scouts under Sergeant-Major Ronnie and Scoutmaster Orbell, the structure, which was constructed with great expedition, being very substantial and well calculated to serve the purpose for which it was built. A hut building competition, for which there were four entries, resulted : —Cambridge terrace 1, Milton 2, East Belt 3. The Dominion Chief Scout was tho judge. Other competitions resulted: — Signalling competition (judge, Lieut. Temple, District Inspector), Linwood troop 1, Cambridge terrf.ee 2. En?t belt 3. Five entries. Ambulance competition (.judges, .North Canterbury Commissioner, Dr. MeLclland Inglis and Commissioner for South Island, Dr. Fenwick), East belt 1, Cambridge terrace 2, Oxford terrace Baptist 3. A bugle competition was also held. Dominion Quartermaster Douglass being the judge. Before turning-in time a camp lire yarn was given by the Dominion Chief Scout.
