EYRETON DISTRICT.
In this district the expected harvest yields aro variable. On the good land, heavy crops are to be seen, and on the light lands some very light crops, and some affected with rust meet the view. In tho East Eyreton district, where there is probably 4_oo acres in wheat and 2500 acres in oats, the yield on the heavy land should reach an average of forty "bushels per acre, and many individual crops of well-loaded wheat on Kaiapoi Island and Ohoka will produce fifty to sixty bushels. The crops have for the most part benefited by the rains and tho oat yields will have been brought up from twenty to twenty-fire bushels per acre, with special crops that will be heavier. Tho crops have escaped caterpillars so far. and the small birdshave not done so much damage. The pea crops look flourishing, and potato fields which are flowering, present a healthy appearance. The crops on the lighter land at Eyreton proper and Swannanoa will not give their highest returns this year, but there is a flourishing condition of matters at West Eyreton, where tho wheat is likely to yield well up to fifty bushels per acre, on the majority of tho farms. Tho district all over has been well supplied with grass, and hay crops have been satisfactory. The green crops now give improved indications, and the sheep and dairy cattle should be provided for in the succeeding months*
