CA NTERB URY DRIVERS' PICNIC.

Canterbury Drivers' Union held their annual picnic and sports at Aniberley on Monday, over 400 excursionists going from Christchureh. and many others, to the Domain, froqi the surrounding district. The weather was beautifully fine, and the en- \ tertainment provided enabled all to thor- j oughly enjoy themselves. D>rry's Band wan in attendance. The road race for cyclists, from Papaniu to Amberley-. in connection with the picnic, resulted as follows:— A. E. Kilbum (3min), time, lhr 26min 20 sec. 1: W. Armstrong pmin), time, lhr 39 mm. 2; C. Price (Irnin), time, lhr 38min. 3: W. J. Shaw (scr), time, lhr 37min, 4. The winner, who was one of the limit men, also won the prize for fastest time. The other events resulted as follows: — Youths' Race, under 18— E. Clemens 1 E Fowko 2. Girls" Race. 14 to 16 years, 75yds—I. Wright ], A. French 2. 100 yds Open Handicap—G. Parker 1, C. Fitzpetrick 2, H. Davis 3. Single Women's Kace, 75yds—I. Parker 1. Sack Race—li. Smith 1, J. Sparks 2. 100 yds Drivers' iiandicat)—R. Rowlands 1 S. Davis 2, J. Ward 3. Married Women's Race, 50yds—Mrs Wilson 1, Mrs West 2. Married Men's Itace, 100 yds—D. Carey ], J. Ward 2. Married Women's Race. 100yds—Mrs J. Brccker and Mrs W. Stuck (equal) 1. The winners decided to draw lot 3 for first prize, and Mrs Brocker ivan successful. Cornmitteemen's Race. 75yds—F. King 1, M. Birmingham 2. There were six teams of ten men entered for the tug-of-war. and a keen contest resulted in a win for the Amberley team of heavy weights.
