Bates's weather cummary and forecast, issued at Wellington at 5 p.m. yeatcrdav. were as follow:—lhe weather has been sultry in many parts, and /"in has fallen in' most districts cf the- South Island, and in places on (ho West Const oi the North island. Moderate to Mronj** nortberlv and weaterly winds have prevailed, and the' barometer has fallen steadily except in tho far South, where a shgbt rise- took place :n the night. Variable northerly and westerly winds will probably prevail, and veer to southerly for v short time. The barometer is unsteady, hut will probably rise so«i_ for a brief period.
