PARIS, December G, The death is announced of the Duke of Chartres at Cbaritilly.

The Due do Chartres was a near relative of the Due d'Orleans, the Legitimist claimant to tho hrench throne. Ho was born in 1840, and Had an eventful life, serving in the Italian Army in 1859, and being; with the Federal Array in the first campaign cf the American Civil War in 1862. After the Revolution of 1870, he returned incognito to France, and subsequently served in Algiers as a major. By a decree of the Republican Government in 1886 his nani© was struck off the French Army list.
