KAIAPOI

At the fortnightly meeting of flic Kaiapoi Borough Council, last night, thero were present:—The Mayor, and Councillors Bate, Robb, Ethenngton, Brunsden, McDougall, Eagle, and Reveil. The Minister of Internal Affairs acknowledged receipt of a petition from residents and a letter from tho Council regarding tho stagnant water nuisance on tho railway, which lie was referring again to tho proper officers. The Secretary for Public Works, referring to a grant of £750 for traffic bridge repairs, stated that authority should bo applied for and plans of'the locality, and tho work proposed, should be forwarded. This was agreed to. The Council decided that tenders should be called for the timber for the bridge. It was reported that tho receipts since last meeting had totalled £91 5s Bd, the debit balance being £820 lis lOd. Accounts amounting to £109 8s were passed for payment. The channelling loan account was £195 13s 6d in credit, and the gas loan £85 12s Bd.
