MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

(Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Two first offenders for inebriety were each mulcted in the usual penalty of 5s with an alternative of twenty-four hours' gaol. James Sutcliffe pleaded guilty to a further breach of his prohibition order. He already had five previous convictions against him, but was convicted and discharged, though warned that if he ever came up before the Court again on a similar charge ho would be sent to Pakatoa for two years. Dorothy Marker, a sixteen-year-old typiste, admitted having signed a receipt for £3 odd without attaching thereto a stamp. His Worship warned her to be more careful in the future, and convicted and dischargod her. Henry James Pinbrook, on remand, charged with failing to provide for his illegitimate child, was further remanded until Friday, bail being allowed in one surety of £00. Honry 31. BloniSeld did not appeal to answer a charge- of disobedience of a maintenance order for the support of his mother, and the Magistrate, remarking that it was a ca.se of defying the Court, sentenced him to one month's imprisonment. Thomas Phillip Coull was ordered by consent to pay his wife 2s fid per week. Arthur Graham Owen, for disobedience of an order against him for iho support of his illegitimate child, was fined 40s and costs.
