to the KiMTort or "thk muss." Sir,—As one of the Moderate party, 1 must say that for meanness, injustice, and, it is to be honed, unintentional mendacity, the letter under the above heading in to-day's "Press," signed ''Justice," could hardly be surpassed. Whatever jnr>y be Uishon Julius's opinion as to perpetual prohibition as a remedy ior the acknowledged evils of the liquor tndiie—- and that opinion we do not know —the Synod of this Diocese has never pronounced in favour of it. Tho clergy— who, as one may presume, from "'Justice's" letter, he supposes to lie the Church—are not the Church, limit ,they we rev would they care to owe their means of livelihood to such false friends (?) as those who could ho at all influenced by such paltry notions of this duty towards God. themselves and their neighbours, as are advocated by "Justice.''—Yours, etc., ARTHUR FOX. The Vicarage, Cnst, October 18.
TO THE KDITOrt OF "THE PKESS. 1 ' Sir, — I very much doubt whether the person who writes to you is, us he states, a member of the Moderate Party. The Prohibition League literary department lias a number of scribblers who dash oh' letters signed by alh-ged Moderates, containing the most exaggerated statements, simply made with a view to allowing tho Prohibitionists to advertise their not nostrum Prohibition. Such a letter is that ol "Moderate." No sane, intelligent person, nowadays connects himself with the "Wowser" section of the Chinch. And it is only the "Wowser" section that preaches No-licenso.-—Yours, etc., ANOTHER MODERATE. October 18.
