BOROUGH COUNCILS.

1 WOOLSTON. ' The Council met on Monday. Present—Tho Mayor (Mr McOrcror Wright), Crs. Hound, Iladclifio. Coupland. Crawford, Woods, Moore, Taylor, Crohnm, Wilkinson. On the Work* Committee's recommendation it was decided to extend culverts in 'Parkcs street at its junction with Itichardson terrace; to request the .Drainage Hoard to widen the bridge over the outtali drain at St. John street; to asphalt footpath in St. John street when channel i.s completed; to re-grade a portion of the same street. The Finance Committee reported receipts Kinco previous meeting. £3-10 Is Shi, temporary loans £1(>80, credit in hank Cl 5 12s, loan account credit .L','s7 12s Id, .supplementary loan credit. _'808 7s lid, and recommended for payment accounts £539 13a Id. It was decided, on the application of tho Library Committee, to write off rate:; i for this year. Tho Clerk was directed to communicate with the owners of land in Dyer street ro widening (same, in view *■( the early channelling of the street. The I sum of £821 was earmarked for the ', work, to commence when the land I necessary for widening was transferred to the Council. The Mayor stated that I applicator for tho opening of the Ferry 1 bridge having been received, with the view of a regular trade, a conference of local bodies interested had recommended that the necessary alteration to tlie bridge he offeoted to allow <i' tho bridge lieing lifted with ease. By the courtesy of the Tramway Board a plan and specification had been prepared by the Board's engineer, which had hern sent to the Public Works Department. Wellington, for approval. The Clerk was instructed to thank the Tramway Board lor its courtesy. It was decided that on receipt of tho plan from the Public Works Department, to call for tenders for the work. and hold a special meeting to consider same, and to invite the local bodies interested to attend.
