ESCAPE FROM PRISON.
(-BESS ASSOCIATION TKL VHU_--. INVERCARGILL, October 38. Another c*. cupi from Invercargill prison occurred this afternoon, when Albert Edward McQueen and Henry Gordon, who had been working in tho cement blockmaking sheds, at the rear of the gaol, broke away and mado across the biorm road and tha golf links to Thomsons Bush. Tho bush was beaten, ana the escapees were sighted several times, but tliov eluded their pursuers, who gave up tlio* chase whon night came on. McQueen, who is an Invercargilhte, knows the country thoroughly, and will probably b 0 hard to catch. Ho was sentenced at the last Supreme Court sittings hero to seven years imprisonment ior assault with intent. Gordon was sentenced at Christchurch to mno months' irnnrisonment, of which period all hut two months had been _erve_. The night is a bitter one with hail and rain showers, and as tho escapees have only trousers and singlets on, they will probably suffer, unless SlcQueens local knowledge is turned to good account. Up to a late bour to-night nothing further had been heard of the prisoners.
