WEST'S PICTURES.
The new programme last night of West's Pictures, at tho King's Theatre, was well received. The film which was most noticeable was one in which a French steeplechase was excellently illustrated. The different events during the race were very exciting, and the fences were negotiated in splendid style by the various horses. "The Queea of the May" was an interesting series showing tho carrying out of an old custom, interwoven with which was a love story in which the rivals figured. "The Three Friends" was noticeable for the splendid training of the dog which played so conspicuous a part. The floods in Tokio were illustrated, and some beautiful scenic pictures of the Aequilega Lagoons were also exhibited. A new series of the "Pathe Gazette," and a number of pictures of children, were interesting. A humorous series illustrating how a young lady preferred her dogs to her lover was very funny. There will bo another change of programme to-night. The new pictures will include a second edition of West's own "Animated Journal"; "Scenes in Malorca" ; "Athalia" ; "Watchmaker's Daughter"; "The Rake's Romance"; -;The Chilian Army"; "The Millionaire's Plan"; "A Hard Catch," and "The Third Floor." A novel guessing competition, "Turning night into day," will be inaugurated shortly for a series of valuable prizes.
