Wednesday was one of the most oppressivo days experienced so far this scfsoii. a strong nor'-west gale ragms j the whole day. Tho air was exceedingly sultry and during the forenoon heavy clouds banking up along the hills 'gave the impression th it rain was not far off, but, unforturafely, none fell. At 9 p.m. a light suu , -wester set in, but brought no rain, merely cooling tiie atmosphere. Yesterday the win;! was easterly, bnfc was veering to " or " west ng.iin, and further hot, uusty weatlier seems inevitable. The p'e-eiit month is . tho dryest experienced u>r ( years.
