Prices have hardened in Southland a* wll us in Canterbury. Ten days ago I=> SJd per bushel wins being paid formats, which, to-day are worth Is 10d. There is not a greni uiiantity of oats left in. South Canterbury now. Prime Duns and Gnrtons are quoted to-day at Is 10d delivered Timaru. Dan ; sh _ one penny lefts, but there are none of this description offering. During the past month, about IC>.<KK) sacks of oats have •been shipped Home from the Bluff. It was thought- when the Corinthie ■nas at Tin.aru last week that lihe would he the last b-v-.t for the season op. which wheat could be shipped Homo at the lo.s freight, but tin- Kaikoura is to he at Timaru about \he> first week ot November to take at least 10.,tKK> sacks at- the lout rod freight. Tho wheat market has not lirined since last reporting on it, ami merchants are not very anxious to buy. as the new crop is now only a leu months oil.
