Mr Simon, replying to a deputation of Trado Unions nt Walthamstow, refused to commit the Cabinet to a definite method of dealing with the Osborno case. He was not (prepared to say that the payment of memiw>'S was necessarily a complete remedy. Mr Ramsay Macdonald, sneaking at Nottingham, said the sooner tho Government knew that the Trade Unions were not going to allow the essential principles of Trado Unionsim to be interfered with on the pretext of the protection of minorites, the better. The Trado Unions simply wanted power to spend their money on political action without qualification. They asked for early facilities for tho second reading of their Bill, and ho hoped the party ■was sufficiently strong to know +he Government's intentions within a few hours of the opening of tho session.
