•. The • Christchureh Drainage Boaro. met last evening, there being present — Messrs W. Hill (chairman), H. J.Otley, S. A. Staples, W. J.- Walter, -J. Richardson, A. S. Bruce, J. Down, F. Storey ( and W. H. Macdougall. The Assistant Engineer reported thfit tfre timber culvert carrying the main effluent drain from tho farm across Breeze's road, which was put in twenty-seven years ago, was too small, and.?was in a bad stat© of repair. It was recommended tha,t a new culvert be constructed, 3ft 3iu in diameter, in reinforced concrete. The length would be three and a half chains, and tho estimated cost was £320.
The report was adopted. The Chief Inspector recommended that «i small committee be set up to work in conjunction with the Spreydon Road Board to investigate thoroughly the matter of the Wilderness road drain and to report to the Board. The Inspector further recommended that that portion of the Boundary road drain between Foster and Claridge roads be timbered at a cost cf £300. Other improvements in various other drains wero also recommended.
Tho report was adopted. The proposal of the engineer of the pumping station to instal a fourth motor and pump was referred to the Works Committee.
The Christchureh Beautifying Assocition wrote, stating that it intended to improve considerably that portion of ground in front of the Supremo and Magistrate's Court, and applying for a grant of £10 towards tho cost of protecting the river bank. The application was granted.
