HOCKEY.

CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION

Tho Canterbury Hockey Association met last evening, when there were present: —Messrs G. Lnxton (in the chair), AY. T. Doig, D. Snell, C. Bowden, \V. Congreve, .E. JDunstan. E. J. Cooper, P. N. Rimdle, and A. P. Lindsay (h O, - ; secretary). Tho Addington Club notified the Association that they wished to withdraw their Thursday second grade team from the competition. The Council decided to allow "the withdrawal of the team. The head master of the Woolston School wrote stating that owing to the pupils having entered for the Association football matches they would be unable to participate in the Schools' Hockey Competition.

The secretary reported that he had received. 67 entries for the five-a-side tournament on June 3rd. made up. as folloAvs: —First _rado 18, second 23, third 20, and fourth G. It was decided that the trophies should take the form of two hookey sticks crossed, and that they bo for the first grade and silver for tho second, third, and fourth trades.

Mr M. Abrahams, the President, said he would donate three of the trophies for tho tournament, and also give two silver cuys for tho second and thifd grade Thursday v. Saturday contests. A hearty vote'of thanks was accorded Mr Abrahams.

It was elocided to fine clubs 10s if their grounds were not kept in order.

The following payers have been selected to represent the Thursday players against the Saturday players:—First Grade: Goal, E. Cooper (LyttcUou); backs, C. Bowden (Lyttelton). P. Campbell (Lyttelton); halves, W. Duffield (Sydenham), 11. cooper (Sydenham), and R. Campbell (Sydenham); forwards, E. Green ._yttelton), C. Featherstonc (Hardware). W. Harrington (Sydenham). J. Howison (Sydenham), and G. White (Sydenham). Second Grade: Goal, Wilson (Kaiapoi) ; backs. R. Denton (Drapers) and Proctor (V.M.C.A.); haves, IV Cooner (U.R.C.), C. Fitzsimmons (Drapers), and Beach (Hardware); forwards, O'Brien (U.K.C.), P. Harvey (Lyttelton!, W. Cameron (St. Luke's). A. Smith (Lvttelton). and J. Hale (Kaiapoi). Third Grade: Goal. A. Tail (Bible Class): backs, Camming (Svdcnhatn) and R. Calvert (Bible Class); halves, K. Wi'son (Sydenham). W. Calvert (Bible Class), and R. Mann (L'.R.C); forwards. E. Earwaker (Drapers), C. Davidson (U.R.C.), Morton (Drapers),- B. Kingsland (U.R.C.), and H. W. Browne (U.lt.C.)

The following have been se'ected to represent the Saturday Third Grade:—Goal," G. Taylor (Bible. Class); backs, W. Hunter (Addington), C. Butlerficid (Sydenham); halves, A. Hudson (Woolston). W. McKay and L. Blewitt; forwards. McWhirter (Bib'e Class), J. W. Boyd (St. John's), McFarlacc. H. Moore. Jchnston. Emergencies: Backs K. Whitsker <>ddin<*»on>, M. D. Milne (St. Albans , F. Gallon (Addinjjton). S. A. Harris .Sydenham), C. McCracken (Bible Class), and C. Best (Sydenham). The fivc-a-side tournament will commence, at I.SO p.m. on Friday on tho polo erounds. The following will represent th« Woolston Hockey Club in the five _--icie tournament on the polo {-rounds on Friday: —Woolston A: C. Vincent, C. Wykes, A. L. Hudson, W. Lcichton. H. F. Wilkinson. Woolston B: A. Lee. P. Hawkins, S. Hawkins, F. Wilkinson, W. Oliver.
