Hofrichter was tried by secret court-martial for attempting to poison seven Austrian staff officers by sending them oapsules containing eyenide. <<-i potassium represented as, nervo tonic, through the post. -He was found guilty and sentenced to bo hanged. Lieut. Hofrichter was not allowed to attend the trial.'. The evidonr* of 2000 witjifeßses was read at the court martial, .which, it is believed, has recommended a'commutation of the sentenco to ifqprisonment on the doctors deiscribing Hofrichter as morally abnormal.
