ASHBURTON BOROUGH SCHOOL.
There was an attendance of about fifty at the meeting of householders at the Ashburton lk>roiijxh School last evening, the Rev. M. E. Bellhouae. chairman of the committee, presiding. The report read, Avhich included extracts from the school inspector's reports, showed that both the main md sido schools were in a very high state of efficiency in es:ch department. Pin* headma-ster (Mr G. Schneider) and th<? remainder of tb.e teachitiii staff were most cordially thanked by a unanimous resolution of the householders for the excellent work they had each done to maintain the high standard tho schwih have now held tor the pa&t ten years at least.
The question of a s-w'inmung bath m as discussed at considerable length, and a motion psssed to the ettect that '.be matter bo held in a bey ant t> till the Borough Council had decided by what it -ivas prepared to do in the matter. The following were elected as a committee for the ensuing year:—Rev. li. E. Bellhouse, Pastor F. TV. Greenwood. Messrs T. H. Fndrin. T. M. Clark, B. T. Missen. C. .Boech. J. T. M Priest. A. J. Tyrrell Baxter, T Haycw, and A. Cardill. Mr J. B. Christiau was re-elected secretary and treasurer.
Vkaroa —The Rev A., H. Julius Rev. J. R. Hayward. Messrs J. R. Newton (chairman). Syse, A. I\. Munro. J. S. Dodds, and J. H. Fountain, were elected. German Bay—Messrs R. Herriott (rhairuunO, A. Sunckell, E. Malmam-he, M. eiicphard, T. Elynan. and l>. Armstrong (secretary), were electrd. Litile Akaloa—Messrs J. Priest (rhairnmn), L. Waghorn, E. Wtighorn, W. Craw, R. Craw. S. Gilbert, and F. Hunter, -were elected. Le Bon's Bay—Messrs AY. F. McCullough (chairman). D. Barker, T. Lowker, D. McUx>d. W. O'Connor, W. Crotty, and S. C. Aldridge, were elected.
Pigeon Bay—Messrs H. C Sefton (chairman),-W* Corrii?al. J. Walker, 0. Reynish, D. Hunt. R. "Wilson, and the Rev. A. H. Xorris, were elected. Robinson's Bay—Messrs A Hewitt (chairman). C. Churchill, W. Kingston, W. Mardon, and A. Orine, were elected Sprevdon.—Messrs W. Senner (chairman), "R. G. Thomas. J. Thomas, E. Hall, J. Steel, H. Ellis, and E. Budden were elected. Southbridge.—The Rev. Mr Hawkins (chairman). Rev. R. W. Jackson, Dr. Withers. Messrs M. Curran, J. C. Free; R. B. Willis (secretary), and E. J. Hnbbard (treasurer) were elected. Sonthbrook.—-The following committee was elected: —Messrs S. Kirk, J. Martyn. S. Jeffrey, H. Coatee, H. Dale, C. Rumbles and R. Barkin. Mr Kirk was appointed chairman and Mr C. RThvraites secretary.
irampstead.— At the Hampstead School there was a large meeting of householders, over which Mr W. Thompson presided. Tho following were elected a committee: —The Rev. R. J. Liddell, Messrs J. Rose, '\V. Thompson, G. W. Andrews, \V. Stranße, J. Rumsey, J. Dalley, G. Bright, and T. Timnra- Mr Thompson , was re-elected chairman. Tinwald.—-Tho following were elected a oommittoe:.—M««srs T. Pearce (chairman), V. Cobb, F. R. Bennison, F. Clcthier, G. Oeborn, A.> Moodie, and J. Haar. ■
