(SPECIAT, TO "THE PRESS.") WELLINGTON, April 20. Mr C. J. Cooper, of Christchureh, general manager of the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company, lias arrived from the South to attend tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Fire Underwriters' Association. Mr "\V. G. T. Goodman, general manager of the Adelaide tramways, iormerly of I>une<!in. arrived in Wellington by the Moeraki to-day. He has come to give export evidence at the enquiry regirding the brakes on tho Auckland tramcars. As his early aticndance at Auckland was necessary, a launch went out to the Moeraki in the stream, end brought him on shore in time to catch tho Main Trunk express train. Amongst the many enterprising folks who love astronomy and fool curious about tho visiting comet, are Sir Joseph and Lady Ward, says the "Post." It is practical proof of genuine interest to get up. at 3 o'clock in the morning nnd l;o to a coign of vantage to look at the wondrous luminary. This morning a motor-car party" went to Mr Bates\s. and saw all that was to bo seen, and bavins been refreshed with hot coffee, motored home and to bed. Miss .Seddon -was one of the party. The marriage of Miss Doris Johnston, daughter of the Hon. C. J. Johnston, M.L.C., to Captain the Hon. Nigel Charles Gathbrne-Hardy, aido-dc-rvxmn to Lord PJunket, is "to take place about the 10th of June. The hrido and bridegroom will leave for England by direct boat on j*uno lGth.
