AMUSEMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL.
The Fisk Jubilee Singers concluded their Chriustchurch season at the Theatre Royal last night, when a programme composed )i request r.umttrs was presented. This included all tho more popular Jubilee choruses, solos, and instrumental it-ems, and the entertainment was altogether a most enjoyable one.
PATHE PICTURES.
There was a large attendance of patrons at His Majesty's Theatre last night, when the present week's programme of Pathe Pictures was repeated. The large variety of films shown aroused great interest, the scenic and comic eubjects being .particularly good. Appropriate music was played during the evening by the Pathe Orchestra. To-night the same pictures will be shown.
WEST'S PICTURES.
The past week's West Picture programme was shown for tho last time at the King's Theatre yesterday evening. To-night an entirely new programme wul be ipresented, and the exhibitions during the coming week will be under the patronage of the executive of the Christchurch Boy Scouts, there being included in the. programme two scout pictures, "A I>ay Out "With the Scouts" arid "Boy Scoute to the Kescue." An approprwte dramatic study, entitled "In the Nick of Time," will show tho Com,oany "X" 22nd Regiment of Engineers, U.S.A., building pontoon bridges. Other dramatic films will be "The Last Deal" {American Biograph), "The Whito Pokahunta," and "Capturo of a Vagrant," ■while educational subjeete will include "A Visit to th© German National Zoo," "Testing Armour Plate^ , and Japanese scenes. Comic reliefs are plentifully supplied in "The Latest Delicacy (aa exclusive Pathe film), "The Chemist," "The Orderly," "The Forgotten Watch," and "Tho Scientist's Nightmare." The orchestra will jrtay ""Nachtlnger in Granada" and "Caralieria Rusticana." .
OPERA HOTJSE.
The Opera House was again largely patronised last night, when the Empire Vaudeville Company repeated the present week's programme. The various items, particularly the fine perfonnenco of the Orottons, were successfully given and heartily applauded. Tonight the programme will bo repeated
COLOSSEUM.
The largo Colosseum building was well filled last night when the week's programme of" Fuller's Pictures was presented for the last time. ORPHEUS SOCIETY.
The fourth subscription, concert of the Orpheus Society was given laat night at the Choral Hall, when there, was a largo attendance of members and their friends. The final organ recital of the forty originally arranged for will be grren by Dr. Bradshaw, city organist, w. Saturday afternoon at His Majesty's Theatre. The programme, which Jite been made up of requests sent in, includes - amongst other numbers the overture "Ruy Bias," the very fine suite by. Grieg, "Peer Gynt," mimet and serenade from Leoncavallo's opera "pagliacci," and that brilliant composition "by Guilmant, "Marche Aux Flambeaux." The recital will commence at 2.45 r>.m.
VOCAL RECITALS.
Mr Sydney "Williamson has arranged to give a series of four subscription certs on Thursday evenings during the months of May, June, July, an 4 '•:>* August. The scheme includes selections :. at each of three of the concerts from the works of Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms, and the fourth will be a re- ■ quest programme, to be chosen fronV: the preceding three. Mr Wflliamedn will be assisted by Misses Chrirfcabel and Alma Welle, violin and piano, who will contribute the instrumental portions of the programmes. Mr Gwrdon' Mcßeth, pianist, of Wanganui, will ■ also assist at one of the series. The list of subscribers will remain open at the Dresden until May Ist.
Mr Frank Levy, representing Mr Geo. Willoughby's new English Comedy Company, arrived, in Christchurch yesterday, to make arrangements for the opening of tho Christchurch season. «n the 29th inct.
