LOAN FLOTATION.
COMMENT IN FINANCIAL CIRCLES
United Press Association—By Electric Te.egraph—Copyright LONDON, April 20. The statement was recently made that the South Australian Government was fk-ating a loan of £700,000 (carrying 3i per cent, interest) at 101. The State Treasurer stated that the report referri-d to portions of two loans of half a million each, eoid privately through Messrs Elder, Smith and Company a. few weeks ago. The purchasers -were putting it on the market, and it was not being floated as a South. Australian loan ot all. Tho Government was not contemplating floating a loan, as it had money to carry it over many months. The Treasurer's explanation has caused much comment in financial' •circles, the general opinion being that the statement will scricusly affect the success of the flotation of tho loan.
