A Feilding telegram states that Mr J Ernest Short, the well-known breeder •;; of Romnev Marsh sheep, wae entertained at dinner by the Kiwitea County - Council, of which lie is a member, prior to leaving for the Argentine International Sheep Show, at which he is to exhibit largely. Mr J. E. Johnston, of Springston, was entertained at a farewell social last Friday evening, prior to his departure for the Little River district. He was presented with a combined companion arid dressing-case, and his mother, who was also a gues.t cf the company, was the reciuient of a travelling-rug. Tho Rev. F. Stubbs, who was for several years minister ft the Presby- ~ terian Church at Cust, has been visiting his old charge. Yesterday he preached at the Ran_iora Presbyterian Church to large congregations. On Saturday, April 16th, Mr Malcolm Powrie, of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Christchurch, was married to Miss Ada CorJner, second daughter of the late Dr. Cordncr. of Rakaia, at the Rakaia Parish Church, which was very tastefully decorated, and was • filled with friends and well-wishers of the bno» and bridegroom.
