WELLINGTON CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. NEW ZEALAND RECORD BROKEN. (FROM A CORRESPONDENT.) WELLINGTON, February 5. Tho provincial Amateur Athletic Championship was held to-day in glorious weather. Among those present was his Excellency the Governor and party. The weather was very favourable for fast times. Woodgcr won tho 100 yards championship with the greatest ease. Only one runner opposed liim in the 220 yards championship, and in this he broke the NewZealand record. He was pulling up when he finished. Following are the results: —

75yds Handicap—Hubbard 1, Cunningham 2, Strickland 3. Time. 7 3-sth sec. Mile Walk Championship—D. Cashman 1, P. J. Fitzgerald 2, G. J. Marshall 3. T. W. Leslie also started. Won by 10yds, with half a lap between second and third. Time, Smin 38 4-sth sec.

100 yds Championship—W. Woodger 1, A. T. Duncan 2, H. H. Dawson 3. Won by 3yds in lOsec dead. A fine performance. Half-mile Championship—J. F. Wilson was really the only competitor, owing to Harding (Napier) not putting in an appearance. He had two pacers to assist him over the distance, which he covered in lmin 66 4-sth sec, only 3-sth sec outside the New Zealand record.

High Jump Championship—Evenson, Eft sjin, 1; L. McKay, sft sin. 2. Hurdles Championship, 120 yds—A. Evenson 1, G. V. Keddell 2, L. McKay 3. Time, 16 2-sth sec.

One Mile Flat Championship—T. B. Heffer 1, F. Wilton 2. Time, 4min 29 4-sth sec, or l-sth sec better than the standard. Heffer is a now runner, and received a groat ovation. Ho won by about sixty yards. 220 yds Championship—W. Woodger 1, F. C. Hubbard 2. The only starters. Time, 22 2-sth 'sec. (New Zealand record). Throwing the Hammer Championship—G. P. Anderson 1, L. L. Paul 2.

Hurdles Championship, 440 yds—A. Evenson 1, G. V. Keddell 2, P. J. McGrath 3. Time, 63 3-sth sec. Won by six yards. Three Miles Walk Handicap—Jushmen, scr, 1; M. Tracy, 400 yds, 2; J. Marshall, 250 yds, 3. Time, 23min 56sec. Long Jump Championship—F. Cubbard (20ft 2in) 1, L. McKay (19ft 7in) 2, H. H. Dawson (19ft -4in) 3. . Three Mile* Flat Championship— H. T. Thompson 1, F. Wilton 2, ±iod_on 3. Time, 15min 57 3-sth sec. Won by 100 yards. 440 yds Championship—J. Wilton 1, J. F. Wilson 2. Won by five yards. Time, 52sec.
