A fire destroyed the factory of Messrs Morris an<i Sons, tobacco manufacturers, and the adjoining houses, in High street, Whitechapel. The damage done totals £100,000, and 400 workpeople are affetced. Seventy fire engines were used in the effort to combat the flames.
