On the motion of Mr Montgomery it wb6 decided that tJio additional pewe-rs conferred by tho Act should only hv cxerci&ed by special resolution of the Board. The Chairman referred to the heavy charges tnadc. in conmet ioi) .\ritJ\ , the importation of goods required f--r purely Oolbge purposes. A quantity of special tinware, he said, had been imported from Germany for the Museum, and the-Customs Department had charged a duty of 37} per cent. A number of taps had also been imported for the chemical laboratory, and an application to the Minister lor a reduction of the duty \uus met by a feftuaal, tho. M. Fnrrow, 8.A., be nppoint-ed iomporaiT asiistant teacher at the Girls' High School, for tho current year; that Boys' Higjh School bursaries for tho year 1910 bo awarded to R. I. Eobinson and Q. B. Arnold. Tho reports wore adopted.
