Heavy gales and snowstorms in the United Kingdom were followed by a rapid thaw. As a result there are torrential floods in Devon and the Severn Valley. Thousands of acres are flooded at Ross Trevor. The London and North-Western Railway steamer is missing on the Irish Sea. She has twenty hands and some passengers aboard The German cargo liner Salatis is ashore at Dungeness. She is valued at £95,000. In a blizzard on the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire coasts, six vessels were cither wrecked or badly damaged.
