The vess'.-i i* bringing a large number of passengers for New Zealand, including the followiu o booked to Lyttelton:—First saloon: Dr. U. J McLean, Mr E. Nicoll. Second saloon: Mrs C. Whittall. The turbine steamer Maori is bringing a full complement of passengers from Wellington this morning. The ArahuTa was substituted for the Tarawera, and left Wellington in company with the Maori last night for Lyttelton. Tho New Zealand Shipping Company s new steamer Ruahine is making good steaming timo on her maiden voyage to New Zealand. She made the run from Plymouth via Tencriffo to Capetown in nineteen days, two darn less than her timetablo allowance. Thc Ruahine loft Capetown last .Friday for Wellington and Lyttelton, yin fiobart. The. 7-sales Line steamer Clnn Ogilvy returned from Wellington yesterday afternoon, .* nd is tiov completing loading. An effort is being made to get the vessel away on her Homeward passage to-morrow. The Clan Ogilvy will be carrying a full cargo of wcol, etc., and will nroceed to London via Cane Horn and St Vincent. Tho twin-screw steamer Monica, whit*, waii built at Auckland by Mir C. Bailey, jun., for Messrs T. Hempatalk and Co. for tho Banks Peninsula trade, arrived at Lvttelton last night after, a good passage cf four days from Auckland. The vessel averaged nearly eight knots for the trip, the ' total coal consumption being ten tons.. Tho Monica is a handsome little vessel of t".2 tone gross, with twin sets of engines of MO indicated h.n. She has been specially fitt«.-l u*s for the Lyttelton-Banki Peninsula trnda, I and has a cargo capacity of about nft7 I tons, and two comfortably fitted cabins for passengers. She has been granted a license for 276 nassengers within harbour limits.
