AVEST CHRISTCHUBGH v. SYDENHAM.
On the first day West Ohmtchurch had scored 198, to -which Sydenham had replied with 113 for.-six wickets. Tie not-outs, Moore ana Watson, resumed; but the latter did not stay long, arid, with the * exception of Moore, none of the batsmen could do much ■with Malone, and the innincs closed for 160. Moore bad -.batted nicely for his 43, his play on the leg side being very strcng. West Christchurch, in theic second inningSj made a capital start, 69 being up when the second) ■wicket fell, Read claiming 47 by capital hitting. Lusk was in an hour; and a-half for his. 38, and Donnelly alone of the others got into doubles,; the innings closing for 115. Requiring lob to win, with an hour and a half to go, Sydenham made. a valiant ■ effort, Bruges, with 34, and Patrick 49, making a capital second wicket stand. The succeeding batsmen hit at everything, and amid the greatest excitement the score mounted rapidly. The wickete also fell quickly, and with ten minutes to go there were 22 runs required, with three wickets in hand. - The/last man went in with fiy<* minutes to : go, and without any change time was called, West Christchuroh winning on the first innings.
