The first charge was that on or a-hout November 7th they did enter the Phillipstown Anglican Church with,latent to commit a crime, and the second charge was that they entered the Roman Catholic Cathedral on or about November 11th and stole therefrom the sum of £3. Chief Detective Bishop applied for a remand, as there ivere other charges pending. The Magistrate remanded the accused for a week and ordered them to be kept separate from the other prisoners. The boys -were arrested on Monday at Molesworth station, some 40 miles post Hanmer, by Detectives "Ward and Gibson, who only arrived in town with their charges on Thursday night. Both the boys reside in Christchurch.
