HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS CHALLENGE SHIELD. The Heathoote Williams" Challenge Shield match between Auckland Grammar School and Christchurch Boys' High School was oontinued yesterday morning. The latter, with four wickete down for 55, resumed batting, and! after two wickets had fallen cheaply, a good stand b.v Wallis and Deans carried the total to 111. The latter was then caught. off c full toss. At the ilun«heon adjournment" the score was 125 for seven wickets, Wallis being not out with a capitally played 43. Afterwardfe Wellis continued to bat splendidly, and he received valuable assistance from tbo Paterson Bros., the second century being raised amid much enthusiasm. The innings olosed for 213, Wallis carrying out his bat for, a magnificently played 96. Hβ exhibited capital defence, and scored his runs by excellent all-round batting. The Auckland boys, with a lead of 63, started their second innings disastrously, four wiokete being down for 15, including Somerville, the century maJter of the day before. The wickete.continued to fall at Short intervals, and the innings closed, for 47, Jacobsen being the only batsman to offer much opposition. The Boys'. High School's bowling, capitally managed by Beans; was first class, and the fielding as keen as mustard. In the half hour that.remained, the local boys mad© 18 for the loss of one wicket. They now require 93 to win, andi they have nine wickets in hand. The match will be resumed at 11 o'clock this morning, and at the close Mr F. Wilding,, the President of the Canterbury Cricket Association, will present, the shield to the winners. Scores:— '

A match was played at Hagley Park on Anniversary Day between Christchurch Veterans and Rangiora Veterans, and resulted in a drawn game. Christchurch Veterans closed'their innings with seven wickets for 401 runs (Lavery 201 retired. C. Prebble- SS. Dv/ 23, Bloxam 13. Mann 17, Alpe 19 retired, McNae 11 retired, Bascand 30). Rangiora scored 345 for eight wickets (Mason 113 retired. W. l" ru rs_ j, lf j. son 64, Felton 24, W. Wilson 16. Tyler 16.> W. Wilson and .Meson took the wickets for Rangiora, and Prebble and Day for Christchurch.
