HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS CHALLENGE SHIELD.
The Auckland Grammar fcchool having challenged the Chnstdnmrh Boys' High School, the present holders ot the Keathcote Williams Challenge Shield, the match was commenced yesterday at Haglev Park. The weather was perfect, and a splendid wicket was available. Tlie Auckiandexs won the toss, and, batting first, put up the good ti.tal of 276. Somerrille, a Parnell first eleven player, was the chief factor in their success, for he scored 120 by splendid aU-round and faultless c "cket. Sutherland, with 55, also batted very we!!. The Boys' Hi ? h techool bow ing and fielding were alike good until late in the innings, and then the heat appeared to have a depressing effect, runs aming freely.
