MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
(Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. One • first offender for drunkenness wa s fined os and costs, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. Julia Crowley, a second offender, was convicted and discharged. MAINTENANCE. Sam Young, a Chinaman, defended by Mr Donnelly, was charged with disobeying a maintenance order for os per week. He stated that he could not pay the aiyount, and asked the Magistrate to reduce it. The Magistrate accordingly made an order for 2s lid per week. Richard Hall was ordered to pay 5s a week towards the support oi an" inmate of a Government institution. Applications for maintenance orders against Francis and Henry Gerard for the support of an inmate of a Government institution were dismissed. Maritana Emmanuel (Mr Donnelly) was by consent ordered to pay 2s txl per week towards the support of an j inmate in an industrial school. Emma Smith (Mr Alpers) was granted summary separation from her husband, John Lang Smith, on the ground of failing to provide maintenance, and ill-treating her. Defendant was ordered to pay 10s a week towards her support.
