The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,070,000 quarters; for tbe Continent, 1,505,000 charters; Atlantic shipments, 246,000 quarters; Pacific. 75,000 quarters; total shipments to Europe for the week, 1,250,000 quarters, including 13,00(3 from Argentina. Silver is quoted at Is 11 11-16 d. (Received December 7th, 11.55 p.m.) LONDON, December 7. Copper—On the spot £59 3s 9d, three months £60 6s 3d. Electrolytic £61. Tin —On the spot £144, three months £144 15s. Consols, £83 Is 3d, compared with £82 12s 6d last- week.

KAURI TIMBER COMPANY, LIMITED. MELBOURNE, December 7. The report of the Kauri Timber Company shows that the gross profits were £98,369. After deducting costs of management and other contingencies, the net profits amount to £41,224. )t is proposed to declare a dividend of 8 per cent., and carry forward £23,533. The new mill is working well, and has largely increased producing facilities. Large deliveries of loss are coming forward, and the conditions are more favourable than at this time last year.

Hall, to-morrow, when 20,736 bales will be offered, as against 19.248 bales at the corresponding isale last year. SPRINGSTON. At Springston yards yesterday, Messrs Pyne and Co. held their monthly sale, entries comprising 1400 sheep, 40 cattle, and 60 pigs. There was a large attendance of farmers and others, and a fairly good sale. The principal sales were: —190 ewes and lamhs at 7s 9d; 320 at 10s; and other lots ranged from 6s to 9s Bd, according to mouths and condition; fat ewes, from lis to 13s 9d; fat wethers (shorn), from 13s to J3s 9d; 185 four and six-tooth wethers, at 12s 2d; 130 two and four-tooth wethers, at 13s; 20 fat wethers, at 13s lOd; 95 wether hoggets, at 10s Id; fat hoggets (in wool), fTom 20s 6d to 21s. Fat steers sold at from £7 10s to £8 ss; fat cows, £6 to £8 15s; cows in milk, £5 10s to £7 15s; cows close to calving, £5 5s to £8 15s; eighteen-months-old heifers fetched £3 los. The New Zealand Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association's sale yards at Springston were formally opened yesterday morning by Mr Bourn. He stated that tiie yards had been opened at the request of a number of the Association's clients. There were a good number of people present, and a fair amount of business was done.

MINING. THE TALISMAN MINE. (SPECIAL TO "THE PBEBB."} KAKANGAHAKE, December 7. During the month of JNovember, the Talisman Consolidated Mine crushed and treated 3350 tons of ore for a yield of bullion valued at £18,602 3s Id. The total costs for the past month were 33s 4d, made up as follows:—Mine development, 10s lid; mining, 13s 7d: milling, 12s 9d; general expenses, 2s Id. The mine manager has cabled to London as follows:—No. 12 level north, progress 60ft, width of reef 27in, assay value 21s Sd. No. 13 level south, progress 36ft, width of reef 12in, values low. No. 8 winze started 279 ft south, suni* 9ft, reef wider than winze, assay value £3 6s. No. 12 winze started 502 ft south, sunk 10ft, reef wider than winze, assay value £2 15s. No. '3 rise, 146 ft north, risen 25ft, width of reef 24in, assay value 365. No. 13 winze started 146 ft north, sunk 4ft, width of reef -4ft. assay value £3 7s. Shaft is down 471 feet; stopped sinking in consequence of influx of water; water now diminishing.
