LONDON WOOL SALES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, December 4. The High Commissioner's cable, dated | December 3rd, is as follows:—' Wool sales closed very firm, except for heavy merinos. There was a brisk demand for all the lots sold. Continental buyers bought largely. Market prospects are favourable. Estimated closing values are:—Superior merinos, Is Id to Is 3d; medium merinos, lOJrd to Is OJd; inferior merinos, 8d to lOd; fine crossbreds, Is 2d to Is 4d; medium crossbreds, 11 Jd to Is 3d; coarse crossbreds, lOd to Is.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cable from their London office:— 'The sales closed with good" competition. There were 97,000 bales sold, of which 48,000 were taken for the Continent, 15,000 for America, and 3000 bales wore held over. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are about 5 per cent, higher for lambs, medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, scoured crossbred, ana tine crossbred slipe; about 5 per cent. to'7_ per cent, higher for coarse crossbred slipe and medium crossbred slipe. and about the same for scoured merino super snd fine greasy crossbred. Prices are also about 5 per cent, lower for medium and inferior merino, and from par to 5 per cent, lower for greasy merino super." The National Mortgage and Agency Company are in receipt of the following cable from their London office, dated December 4th, 1909:— "*»\ 00l sales closed firm; on a par with opening rates. There is a hardening tendency in the market for coarse crossbreds."
