ARBITRATION COURT.

Mr Justice Sim presided at the Arbitration Court on Saturday morning. COMPENSATION CASE. Jas. McGowan (Mr Smithson) claimed £194 from Walter Hill (Mr Stringer, _.C.) as compensation for injuries received while in respondent's employ. Mr Smithson stated that on February 10th, 1909, the claimant sustained a broken thigh, which had shortened his leg and would permanently incapacitate him from heavy work. Evidence was given by the claimant and Drs. F. G. Gibson and H. Simpson. Mr Stringer took exception to the manner in which the computation of the claim had been arrived at, contending that the amount was excessive. Drs. J. C. Palmer and E. Jennings gave evidence to the effect that the injury was not calculated to trouble the claimant very seriously in after life. Judgment was given for claimant for £75. and costs £5 os, disbursements and witnesses's expenses. j
