As a result of the efforts the pupils would be able to cable Home to the Sub-Warden of Mansfield House University Settlement about £80. The report was adopted. The Appointments Committee recommended Mr E. Denton's appointment as Instructor in Drawing and Mechanical Engineering. The Committee reported •that it had received with regret the resignation of Mr Lynskey,_ assistant instructor in commercial English and arithmetic, and recommended that Mr A. C. Maxwell, first assistant at the East Christchurch School, be appointed to the position. The report was adopted. Consideration of the report was deferred until next meeting. The Director reported that 27 entries had been received for the Industrial and Domestic Science Scholarships established by the Board, 15 of these being girls aiid 12 boys. The following results of the City and . Guilds of London Technical Examina- j tions had been received:—Carpentry and J Jcinery (preliminary): G. E. Bielby and A. H. Brake; (ordinary), B. E. Bigg, A. H. Brake, and P. S. Hawkins. Plumbers' Work (ordinary): L. E. Freeman, H. Vale and A. W. Whitfield. Cabinet-making (ordinary): A. E. Marsden and F. Hutchings; (honours), E. J. . Barrett, W. N. That "was the' first time that any students from the Technical College had taken an Honours examination of the City and Guilds, and the Board would j bs interested to learn that all three] succeeded in passing. Of all the candidates sent in there were not more than two failures. The Board would be gratified to know that its instructors, Mr Bowring. Mr Bridge, and Mr Moore, had all succeeded in gaining, in addition, first-class certificates. At the | sale of work the lion's share of the success had been due to the untiring energy of Miss Beck, assisted by Miss Lynch, and of Mr Bowring, together with Mr Moore and Mr Bridge. At the end of another year's work he felt that the Board had every reason to be gratified by the progress made, not only in numbers, but also and mainly in the quality of the work and the standard of conduct.
