Thursday, December 2.

AFTERNOON SITTING. The House met at 2.30 p.m. McLEAN INSTITUTE. The McLean Institute Bill (Mr G. W. Russell) was put through its final stages. THE LAND BILL. The greater part of the afternoon was occupied in a discussion arising out of the presentation of the report of the Lances Committee on the Land Bill. The House rose at 5.30 p.m.

EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. IMPREST SUPPLY BILL. An Imprest Supply Bill was introduced by Governor's message. Mr MASSEY asked the Prim© Minister if he would lay before the House a summary of the proceedings at the Defence Conference. This had been done by the Prime Minister of the

Commonwealth so far aa Australia was concerned. The House had no information at all on these important matters. He also asked when the Publio Works Statement would be brought down. The PRIME MINISTER said he proposed to circulate the Naval Defence Bill to-morrow, and he would piece before the House a summary of the proceedings at the Defence Conference in a day or two. The Public Works Statement would b-> introduced as soon as it was possible to get on with it. Opportunities woukl bo given to discuss the reports of tho Timber and Polic? Commissions. The Bill was put through all its stages. DEFENCE BILL. Tho Defence Bill was brought down by Governor's message. Tho House rose at 1 a.m.
