Thf llipr.li Commissioner's cable, dated Tendon, October 30th, is as follows:— Mutton— Tlio market is very quiet, the speculative buying has apparently ended, and buyers are not inclined to m«ke forward purchases at present prices. Stocks of mutton on hand are liitht and firmly held in a few hands. The average, prices to-day arc: Canterbury mutton 4Jd, North Island tid. Mutton has only reached present prices on one occasion sinco February, 11)07. Lamb—The market is quiet, and there, is n dull sale for all lamb. Average prices to-day: Canterbury brands •lid, North Island 4Jd. Beef—The market is steady,, and tho average prices to-day aro: New Zealand hinds 33d, fores 3d. Butter—Tho market is firm for best quality, but the high price restricts the demand. Buyers of butter are holding back expecting prices to go lower. Tho price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 117s, Argentine life, Australian 115s, Danish 1275, and Siberian lU6s. Cheese—The market 1.3 dull and there ia only a small demand. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese toilnv is 666. Hemp—Market quiet, but steady. New Zealand good fair, spot £27 10s, fair grade, snot £26 10s, good fair £27, fair £26, fair current Manila £25 10s. The Manila output for the week was 33,000 bales. Cocksfoot—The seed market is firm, and there are only light stocks on hand. The average price for bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed weighing 171b per bushel on the spot is 70s. Hops—The market is firm, and prices continue to advance. The River Plate shipments received during September were: — Mutton.
