,4-u A telegram from Bealoy yesterday morning stated that the Waimakariri was 3ft above normal, and still rising. However, advice to hand in the afternoon stated.that the weather had cleared, and that the river was falling. A strong nor'-wester yesterday caueed much of the snow on the ranges to disappear, and the enow-fed rivers were in a dirty condition last evening There was an unusually nigh tide at Sumner and Redeliffis yeeterday, and tho waves were dashing right over the Sailing Club's jetty with the force of the nor'-west gele Near Andrews'e quarry the sea was breaking acroee the tramway track and well over the road. A nor'-west gale blew in Aehburton yesterday. Heavy showers of rein fell in the early morning, and there was also heavy ra,m in the Mount Somers district. There was a big fresh in the Aehburton river, and the water was still rising lest evening.
