THE COLLEGE SPORTS.
The annual sports meeting in connection with Christ's College takes place to-day on the College grounds. Under the circumstances, we make an exception to our rulo of not publishing topical verse and print the following lines which have been sent in to us: — "AULD LANG SYNE." (By Ait Outsider.) Tho College sports! How long it seems Since you and I, Bill, dreamt those dreams of dreams, '-,••.. You, for the champion Tun, I tor tho jump, Both scrubbing down our decks at the old pump, After a training run, and wasting too, A thing I've never let my own boys do. Thia day the girls all put on summer, togs, And look so dismal, if it rains or fogs t0 And fieavo such sighs, they raise the very roof If ma saye sternly, "Put on waterproof." But if the day is warm, serene, and fair, What glorious visions—dress and hats ond hair! Oh, how they barrack each incipient "Ward" Bounding with springy steps o'er, the green .sward. , „ • Oftet'oheers ring out at each big r favourite s jump, But when I won; I'll ne'er forget tho slump. Tho silence hit mc. Oh, my dear old Bi'l, At fifty, I'm still dosing for tho chilli Our times must change, but "boys will e'er be boys," Run the some Taces, feel tho same ©Id joys, And when each one comes forth to claim his prise, The same old blush extends from toes to eyes. "Boys will be boys," and while our flag unfurls, I only hope our girls will still be girls.
