"JACK AND JILL."

Milner and Thompson's presented a busy scene yesterday morning when the box plans were opened for tho first six evenings and matinee performances of "Jack and Jill" —which will make its first appearance in New Zealand at the Theatre Royal next Friday. The company is due in Wellington to-day, but work has already commenced at the . Theatre, ■where additional electric mains ere being put in to supply the extra current required for the "Palace of Precious Stones," a scene "which is said to be of dazzling beauty. In fact the whole production appears to be full of good things. Speaking of the Melbourne production, the "Argus" says:—"There has never been a pantomime packed so full of clever, amusing, entertaining, and beautiful things, so exquisitely done ac this year's 'Jack end Jill.' ■ There is a profusion of special features, many of which have already been mentioned. Perhaps the beauty spot is the "Faceograpli." On a dark screen in the centre of a star, a sweetly pretty jiving face five times life size follows, by expression only, the singing of "My Starlight Maid" by Miss Stella Gastelle. "The Surf Bathers" is another realistic effect. Tho waves appear to come on, mount up, carl their white crests in the air, and the nexx moment daah over the hatheirs, and are broken on the shore. The turn of The Giant Rooster, by Mr Walter Stanton, is of exceptional merit and comicality, never failing to provoke uproarious laughter. Many other novel attractions are also included in the pantomime.
