MEETING OF BOARD OF
GOVERNORS
The monthly mooting of tho Board of Governors of Canterbury College was held yesterday, there being present :—Mr G. W. Ru__sell, M.P. (chairman), Bishop Julius, Bishop Grimes, Messrs C. H. A. T. Opie, G. Rennie, T. S. Foster, W. H. Montgomery, J. O. Adams, L, B. Wood,' T, W. Howe, J. L. Scott, W. Izard, H. G. Ell, M.P., T. S. Weston, and .Dr. Talbot. Leave of absence for six months was granted to Dean Harper; Mr S. Hurst Seager wrote, offering the Board 139 lantern slides illustrating tho history of furnituro, ©tc., for the School of Art. The Board accepted the offer with thanks.
The Museum and Library Committee recommended the Board:—(1) That a department be established at the Museum to contain exhibits illustrating tho history of this city and provincial district; not merely in their infancy, but as far as possible continuously, and that efforts be made to form an M.S. collection—biographical, historical, and otherwise* —relating to New Zealand at krge. (2) That the Curator be granted leave of absence for six weeks, to enable him to visit Australia. (3) That Mr Wynn-Williams be granted jpfcrmission to send a photo off the Okarito whale to an illustrated ppaer in England. (4) That th© Curator be authorised to havo a new case constructed "for the gems and gemstones. The report was adopted.
