WAIAU DISTRICT SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
A.VXUAL MEETING
Tlie annual meeting of the Waiau [ District Settlers.' Association was hold lon April 24th. when Colonel Chaffey presided over a good attendance. The report and balance-sheet, with two amendments were adopted. Tlie balance-sheet showed a cash balance of £2!) Js, with assets totalling £45 6s 7d. In pursuance- of a notice of motion previously given, Colonel Chaffey moved in the direction of disbanding the Association, to enable tho Amuri A. and P. Association to tako over the platform of the Settlers' Association. In order that this business could bo gone ou with, the old officers were reinstated. Mr Richards then moved an amendment, with tho object of merging the Association in tho Amuri A. and P. Association without disbandins. Eventually a motion, moved by Mr 1). D. Macfarlane, was carried, to the effect that tho matter be deferred until such time as it was ascertained whether the Amuri A. and P. Association would take over the Association's platform. On Mr Gale's motion, it was decided that tho Amuri County Council bo asked to subdivide tho stock paddock at the water-raco at Culverdon, and also tlie ono near Mr Foster's property. It was decided that a further request be made to the Council to fill in or protect the hole on the Cheddar Valley road, which was dangerous to traffic." At a meeting of the Amuri A. and P. Association, held after the; Settlers' Association meeting, it was decided to call a special meeting of the Association on May Bth to discuss the advisability of taking over the platform of tho Settlers' Association.
