RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION.
THE LAWRENCE-ROXBURGH EXTENSION.
(."BOM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) DUNEDIN, April 13. Tho "Otago Daily Times," commenting on th© Lawrence-Roxburgh railway, says:—"The Christchurch 'Press* recommends Otago to .accept the Ministerial pronouncement 'with what philosophy it can muster.' It is easy for thos© not afFected by the decision to offer advice or this kind. Th© 'Press' does not usually accept th© view of the Government so unquestioningly as it does in this case. We are sure if the line that was stopped was a Canterbury railway it would not commend the Government so readily as it does for resolving 'not to throw good money after bad.' Our contemporary's argument might fittingly bo employed in connection with moro than one line in the country, and with none more so than the Midland Railway, in which Canterbury is largely interested."
